A Trip to Sacuieni Bihor

Brittany's site!
After the senior prom night I headed to Brittany's site in Sacuieni Bihor, which is about 4 hours north of my site. Knowing that I was exhausted from the night before she met me at the train station with carrot sticks and water. What a good PCV! Haha. We spent the weekend with Ashley and Brad who ventured over from the East side. After a brief stop by the local police (they wanted to see if we were legally in country-Brittany lives by the Hungarian border) we relaxed and then set out for a picnic. What was supposed to be about a 30 minute walk turned into hours but we finally found the river and enjoyed the sun for a few hours. We then had a taco night and hung out with her community mentor, Blanka. The next morning I headed out early-onto Beius to participate in the Habitat for Humanity/Peace Corps build to help celebrate 20 years of PC service in Romania and 50 years worldwide. But more on that later...
Waiting for Brad and Ashley in town..loved this shot.

Then we ran into a Telly-Tubby Cement Mixer! Amazing.

Another view of this monstrosity.

Only the biggest beetle I've never seen in this country hiding in Brittany's tree.

Brad and Ashley heading out on our 2 hour hike to the river.

Our fearless leader carrying provisions and a blanket.

"I know the river is here somewhere...keep walking!" Um....

Beautiful fields in Sucuieni

Just some PCVs exploring.

Finally at the river!

The elusive river.
